Meet Paul - Founder of Minds in the Mountains
I’m Paul Taylor, a registered mental health practitioner with a BSc (Hons) and over 15 years of experience, including 6 years in crisis care. Minds in the Mountains offers guided fell walks in the Lake District, combining the benefits of nature with therapeutic conversation, mindfulness, and mental clarity. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply in need of space to think, these walks are designed to help you reconnect, reflect, and rebalance in the heart of the fells.
Attention
restoration
theory
At Minds in the Mountains, we incorporate the principles of Attention Restoration Theory (ART) to support your mental wellbeing through guided fell walks. ART suggests that time spent in natural environments helps restore our capacity for focus and reduces the mental fatigue caused by modern life.
Natural settings gently hold our attention in a way known as “soft fascination” — watching trees sway, hearing streams flow, or walking through open landscapes — giving the brain space to rest and reset. This process can improve clarity of thought, mood, and overall emotional regulation.
(Kaplan, R. & Kaplan, S. (1989). The Experience of Nature: A Psychological Perspective. Cambridge University Press.)
Our walks are intentionally designed to create this restorative experience, combining mindful movement, professional support, and the calming influence of the Lake District landscape.

adventure reset
Adventure Reset is a full-day guided fell walk with Paul. It is designed to help you disconnect from stress and reconnect with yourself in the breath-taking wilds of the Lake District.

From there, we step in amongst the fells for a full-day experience combining movement, stillness, therapeutic conversation, and the natural clarity that only time in nature can bring.
This experience offers space to reflect, talk openly, or simply walk in companionable silence. It’s a chance to reset mentally and emotionally—held safely in the rhythms of the natural world.
